HOW IT WORKS

On the first Saturday of November each year, the city of Welland comes alive with the spirit of giving and generosity.

Starting at 10:00 am, dozens of teams through the streets of Welland to collect bags and boxes of non-perishable food items that people have left on their front porch (it works a bit differently for apartment buildings, more on that below) which they load up into their vehicles and deliver to the food drive headquarters at Club Richelieu where an army of volunteers (affectionately referred to some as the “bee hive” with so much activity going on) are waiting to receive, sort and package all items.

The donations are divided between 3 local food banks who are responsible for making sure the food gets into the hands and homes of those that need it the most.

DO YOU LIVE IN AN APARTMENT?
Those that live in apartment buildings are able to participate a little differently.

If you live in an apartment you’ll likely start noticing our flyer in the lobby in the weeks leading up to the event.

You can leave your donation in the provided bin which will be picked up on the Monday after the event.
